Want to learn emoji meanings on iPhone?

Emojis are crazy and amazing all at the same time. They are the global language!

But how many times have you been stuck trying to figure out what some emojis actually mean?

Perhaps too many 🙁

Guess no more! If you have an iPhone, you’ll be speaking emoji language in no time at all.

Got your phone? Let’s go!

Learn Emoji Meanings on iPhone

Here’s how to set up your iPhone to teach you emoji meanings.

1 | Enable Speak Selection feature

Open your iPhone Settings. Scroll down a bit to Accessibility.

Tap Spoken Content.

Slide the Speak Selection button to the right so it’s green.

NOTE: This won’t affect anything on your phone until you tell it to – so no worries!

2 | Choose Siri’s voice

This step is optional. Use it if you like!

You can change Siri’s dialect, choose male or female, and even different voices than Siri. Just tap Voices and try them out.

Next, if you’re a fast learner, you can make the Speaking Rate faster.

Hard of hearing? Try slowing it down.

When you’re ready, let’s learn emojis.

3 | Listen and Learn Emoji Meanings!

Exit Settings and open Messages. Or perhaps something like Notes, another app where you can type emojis.

Type any emoji you want described and press on it. On the pop-up menu, tap Select.

Next, tap the right arrow in the pop-up menu.

Then tap Speak to hear your iPhone tell you what the emoji is!

It’s that easy.

This one was simply “Ogre.”

Check out the ones that confuse you! I learned that the emoji I thought was a student studying for a test, or a flustered young man, was actually “Person Bowing Deeply.”

Inappropriate emoji use avoided!

You can even type multiple emojis. Below is a combination I’ve seen a lot of readers seeking the meaning of.

Listen closely – I found that the names were spoken quickly in succession.

Just the 3 names. You’ll have to check this article if you want to learn the secret meaning of emoji combinations.
