The good news is that if you have a Canva Pro subscription, you can add your own fonts to use in your designs.
The process is simple!

Adding Fonts to Canva for Branding
To import brand fonts to Canva, the first thing you need to do is to have a Brand Kit.
This does add an extra step, but makes all your future designing so much faster!
This is a Canva Pro feature that allows you to select your business colors and fonts, and upload your logo. The result is an easy-to-access Brand Kit within Canva that makes creating branded graphics a breeze.
Take a moment to set this up, as you’ll be using these elements frequently!
Don’t want a Brand Kit? See the “on the fly” upload option towards the end of this article.
From the main menu, choose the Brand Kit option. Click ‘Add Brand Kit’ from the top right corner to create a new one.
You can choose your brand colors by using hex codes.
And you can upload any logos you may have made.
Or do both later.
Scroll down to the Brand fonts section and there are three options:
- Add a heading style
- Add a subheading style
- Add a body style
You don’t have to use all three, but you have the ability add a main header font, a script or accent font for the subheading, and then the normal body font you use.
You can click one of these options to choose a font from the thousands of fonts that are already built into Canva. Then you can select the default size and if bold or italic is automatically added, where available.
Under this is the option to upload a font.
When you click the Upload a font option, you will get a new window to locate the font on your computer. If the font is in a compressed or zip file, you’ll need to unzip this first.
Then select the font file and you will see a dialog box on the screen confirming that you have the right to use it for the intended purposes.
Always make sure you check out font licenses and that you can use them as you want.
Then click to upload.
The font will appear under the Uploaded fonts area in the Brand Kit.
If there are variations such as bold or italic and you want the entire font family, you’ll need to upload each one.
Now go to the option of the three brand font styles to select which one this font will be. In this case, we’ll make it a heading style font.
It will show in the panel of fonts under Uploaded fonts, so you don’t need to go scrolling to find it.
Or if you know the name, you can type it into the search bar at the top.
Choose the default font size for this style (you can always change this size while designing) and you’re ready to move onto the next one.
Can you add fonts via the mobile app?
Yes, you can follow the same process to upload fonts via the mobile app.
Simply choose the Brand Kit area and select your fonts.
Just remember you’ll need to have the font file you want to upload already on that device!
How many fonts can you add?
Currently, you can add up to 100 fonts to Canva.
They can be in OpenType Font File (OTF), TrueType Font File (TTF) or Web Open Font Format (WOFF) to upload.
You don’t need to add these all through the brand kit option – there’s another way. But you do need to have Canva Pro to get this feature.
How to Add Fonts to Canva on the Fly
If you have fonts you want to use that aren’t part of your branding, there’s another way to upload them, and it’s super fast.
Go into a design and create a text box.
Select the font menu from the top bar.
At the bottom of the list of fonts, there’s an option to upload a font.
Here you can follow the same process as above, grabbing the font and uploading it.
Then it will appear under the Uploaded fonts area on the font list, but not as a specific brand font.
How to Upload Fonts to Canva for Free
As I mentioned above, this isn’t possible. It’s one of the many added features available to users of Canva Pro.

Why Can’t I Upload My Font to Canva?
There could be several reasons why you’re having trouble uploading your font to Canva.
First, ensure that the font file is in one of the supported formats: OpenType Font File (OTF), TrueType Font File (TTF), or Web Open Font Format (WOFF).
Second, make sure the file isn’t corrupted.
If you’ve verified these factors and are still encountering issues, it may be a problem with Canva’s servers. Try again later.
Do I need a Pro Membership to upload fonts to Canva?

Create Custom Designs
There’s a huge benefit to being able to add custom fonts to Canva.
You can make your designs more unique and on-brand. Or you can use special fonts for projects to make them stand out.
You do need to be a Canva Pro, Enterprise, or nonprofit user to get the feature.
That crown icon beside a feature tells you the paid plan is needed.
But if you have a paid plan, uploading fonts to Canva is a great way to create custom designs.
